Intro.

The word fire is systematic with the component of heat within measurement of flames, and when you look at the world of Professional Wrestling AEW has proven that if you stay the course in life, then good things will happen. So that gave me the idea, what if I took a look at the times when this young company set the world ablaze through it’s innovator storytelling, and gravity defying action. So sit back get yourself a snack, and I will take a look 5 Times AEW Set The World On Fire ( Literally ).

5. Darby Allin Wins The AEW World Heavyweight Championship.

On the 15th of April edition of AEW Dynamite. Darby Allin beat MJF for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. This was a move that shocked The Pro Wrestling world, because this was the same timeline as this years WWE Wrestlemania week. I understand why Tony Khan would want to do this, because it’s a tactic that would be used to under cut HHH’ s booking in WWE. No one saw this coming, and Darby’s run with the belt, which only lasted one month was excellent. Darby would lose the belt at the following Double Or Nothing PPV.

4. The Elite Saga.

This would be a story arc that would for the best part of nearly two years, with many fans considering the 2020 All Out PPV being the start of the downfall of Hangman Adam Page. I consider this to be one of the best storylines ever to be told in Pro Wrestling. It managed to make a standard fan feel emotioons that they never knew they had, whilst also highlighting the themes of addiction, and. Bullying. I sw this storyline at a time in my life when I needed it most. Hangman would go on to win the AEW World Heavyweight Championship at Full Gear 2021 from Kenny Omega in a Match of the year contender, bringing this story to an end in one of the most cathartic releases that the company has ever produced.

3. The First Dance.

On August 20th edition of AEW Rampage commonly known to fans as The First Dance. The venue was the United Center in Chicago, and the hype around this show was palpable. AEW had layered out teases for the best part of the Summer of 2021 on Dynamite, and it all led to this date, and the return of one man. Cm Punk. After leaving WWE in 2014 under contentious circumstances, it was unclear as to whether Punk would ever return to the world of Pro Wrestling. This would also be paved in contorversy, as he would end up in the same company as his one-time friend Colt Cobana. This relationship would be seen as turbulent due to legal reasons.

2. Cm Punk vs MJF.

This is my favourite AEW story arc, and it’s still spoken about to this day. This started off in the december of 2021, and from the very first promo, you could get the sense that something special was on the horizon, and something was. Punk vs MJF was the main centre-point for AEW’s storytelling throughout the first months of 2022, from having an awesome Match on the 2nd of Febuary edition of Dynamite that saw MJF defeat Punk, all the way to there Dog collar Match at that years Revolution. This is AEW at it’s finest, and I love it.

1. Hangman Adam Page Sets Swerve Strickland’s Childhood Home On Fire

This took place on the 4th of september 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite. The rivalry between Swerve Strickland, and. Hangman Adam Page had been going on for nearly over a year at this point, leading into All Out PPV. Many thought that the Cage Match that the pair had overstepped the mark when it came to violence, personally I thought this was on the money. The segment that came at the end of that weeks Dynamite, started off with Swerve in the ring being interviewed by Tony Schiavone, after earlier in the evening being seen after buying his childhood home. Hangmans music plays, but he’s nowhere to be seen, because Hangman was at Swerves complete with a can of petrol, he proceeded to pour said petrol around, after this he took a seat on the front with a whiskey, and his house ablaze. This is one of the best segments that AEW have ever produced. It even had dave Legreca lose his mind on Busted Open Radio, when Busted Open used to be good.

These moments are than just moments in time, they’re memories to be held onto. I love these Story’s, and instances are the reasons why i love Pro Wrestling, and that’s all that matters. I love Professional Wrestling.
