In Tribute.

As I sit here writing this piece on a Sunday evening, I’m in a place were my heart is very heavy, and this is because earlier today we got the news that former AEW Wrestler Andy Williams better known as The Butcher has passed away. I never met Andy personally, but I know people that did, and he couldn’t have been nicer. Yeah, that’s all I can say, because i’m feeling crushed for the people that knew him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones at this extremely difficult time. RIP The Butcher. You will be missed. I know that this is a piece on MMA, however I had to get this off my chest.

Losene Keita vs Muhammand Naimov. UFC Featherweight Division.

On paper this looked a straight forward win for the Belgian standout, and it was because this fight was over inside the first minute, as he knocked out Naimov, with stunning boxing. He then called out British Featherweight UFC stand out Lerone Murphy. Now this is a fight that I want to see.

Kurtis Campbell vs Trevor Peek UFC Featherweight Division.

On Campbells last outing at UFC Fight Night London back in March of this year, he was on the losing end of a three round battle against American danny Silva. This however was a lot better, as his groundgame had shown vast improvement. This would be how the play would be rolled out, as the three rounds went on. The American Peek couldn’t utilisse his stand up. Cambell got the win by submission.

Punhalle Soriano vs Danil Donchenko UFC Welterweight Division.

When this fight card got announced, this was the fight that I had my eye on the most. The first round felt like both fighters were just feeling each other out, and as the round came to a close, I was glad to see it end. The second saw Donchenko showcase his decent kickboxing, something that Punhalle couldn’t defend. The third round carried on were the second left off, as this was very much a rinse and repeat of the second. Donchenko got the win by decision.

Michael Venom Page vs Nursulton Rubioev UFC Middleweight Division.

At this point I have to wonder what is going on with Michael Venom Page. I’m going to be honest Michael Venom Page doesn’t seem like the fighter he was since leaving Bellator, and signing with the UFC, he was signed as a UK standout, and his performances since joining the UFC have ranged from decent to woeful. This one fell into the decent range, as in the first round he recovered from getting taken down by Rubioev. The second round Page played the role of the hunter, as his striking took centre stage, and the third Nursulton looked defeated, as Venom Page got the win by decision. If rumours are to be believed, this was Page’s last fight on his contract, and for some reason he wasn’t given the interview treatment by Michael Bisping, this says to me that the communication between Page, and the UFC might have broken down.

Ziam Pares vs Axel Sola UFC Lightweight Division.

This was simply stunning. Axel Sola knocked out Ziam Pares inside the fist minutes of the first round. His boxing was on another level. If you haven’t seen this, then go and check this out.

Dan Hooker vs Salahdine Parnasse UFC Lightweight Division.

On paper I fancied dan Hooker to take this victory back to the U.S, only one thing. Someone had clearly told Salahdine Parnasse. He TKO’d Dan Hooker in less than two minutes of the first round.

Overview Of UFC Fight Night Paris.

Over the past five years around September time The UFC has come to Paris France, the homeland of Baguettes. Croissants, and my hero. Thiery Henry. This has been a vital piece in the UFC expansion, and given the fact that MMA was previously banned in France, these markets are important in the european territory, so it’s important to keep fight cards fresh, by giving european fighters who fans wouldn’t normally see the chance to compete. This is what we had last night, a great card with solid performances. The UFC Loves France. Ooh la la.
