Intro.
When this PPV got confirmed in the early part of March this year, the fan reception was mixed, and I get why. AEW aren’t known to put PPV’s on before other major shows, within weeks of each other. This made most AEW fans think that this could be a filler show. I sat down to watch the PPV on MYAEW this morning, because A family situation pulled me away this past monday night. AEW don’t do filler shows so seeing how this would unfold was going to be interesting, and with the current of how AEW All In tickets are performing at the box office in my country of the UK. this rd. I can’t change what happens at the box office, but what I can do is this, give you guys my thoughts on what was a very good show.
Ladder Match For The No1 Contendership To The AEW International Championship.
Jack Perry. El Clon. The Beast Mortas. Nick Wayne. Commander, and Speedball Mike Bailey started off the main card, by ripping the roof off from the arena. This was an insane way to kick start the show. The Matches within the Match all flowed with ease as the mental guessing game, became the main story of the Match. This Match did have some stand out star making performances, and moments from the likes of Nick Wayne, and. Speedball Mike Bailey, and The Beast Mortas getting caught in a ladder, however this didn’t give fans the chance to breathe, because the in ring work felt relentless. This meant that everyman managed to get there stuff in. This would also give time for the final exchanges to breathe, even though the fans probably couldn’t. Speedball Mike Bailey got the win, and later on in the broadcast called his shot at Grandslam Mexico. I liked this.
Will Osperay and Jon Moxley vs The Young Bucks.
From the very outset I could tell that something was differant. Will Osperay walked out with Jon to his Deathriders entrance music. Will had a vacant stare in his eyes, and just like that we had the story of this Match. Good vs Grooming, and it was captivating from the start, to it’s drama filled end. When AEW do these mish mash type of Matches no one does theem better. The main physicality of the Match became the backdone for what was to come. The grand finale to this Match saw Jon take several superkicks to the face for the Young Bucks to pick up the win. Earlier in the Match Matt Jackson took an accidental head knock from Will. It was reported by Pro Wrestling reporters that Matt was ok, which was a good thing, because that knock looked nasty. I loved all of this.
AEW International Chmapionship Bandido vs Kyle Fletcher.
This was excellent. Even though the result of this Match was never in any doubt It’s important that AEW have these type of Matches up there sleeves. The main storyline of the Match was based around who’s the best. The fans were vocal on there thoughts towaarrrrds Kyle Fletcher, and it was funny watching him get wound up. THe Match had it’s stunning moments like when Kyle took a nasty looking powerbomb onto the outside of the ring, and then him having to take a frogsplash on the open floor from Bandido who went air boourne from the top rope. The final exchanges saw Kyle escape from a 21 plex, and then him getting the pin and the win when he laid a brainbuster on Bandido from the top rope. The final move did look at bit botchey, but overall both men deserve the chants of this is awesome.
The Bang Bang Gang vs The Dogs Tag Team Chain Match.
I’m going to be incredibly frank. This Match did nothing for me. This was the result of three things. Fan interest not being where it needed, the fact that fatigue was starting to set in with the fans, and then you add in the fact that was a Collision Matcch taking place on a major PPV. I struggled to connect with this Match. The Dogs got the win, and the aftermath attack was pointless. This is no disrespect to Jay White. Juice Robinson, or Clark Connors, and David Finlay, I just think that booking could be better.
AEW TBS Championship Maya World vs Hikaru Shida.
When I sat down to write this review. My mind started to think of words to describe Maya World, and the only one that came to m mind was strength. This is because when you take in everything that she’s been through, seeing her perform on this big stage is awesome. Maya sadly lost her brother in a car accident earlier this year, and this past Sunday was her first birthdrthday without him. So competing knowing that fact makes her a strong person in my opinion. Hikaru Shida was a great dance partner. Both ladies styles worked well together in what was one of my Matches of the night. Maya got the win by a suprise roll up, and is our new AEW Womens TBS Champion Hikaru Shida then through the mother of all tantrums, and had to be taken away by security. You love to see it.
The Demand Segment.
The demand are in the mood for Gold, and they want the AEW Trios Championships, so ask and you shall receive, because Tony Khan confirmed this for Dynamite.
Cope And Cage vs Claudio Castagnoli and Pac AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Cope and Cage’s run as the AEW World Tag Team Champions hasn’t exactly lit up the ground. This is mainly because after there feud with FTR came to an end, it’s felt like AEW didn’t know what to do with them, and i’m not sure why that is, however this Match was great. The Deathriders got a jumpstart by attacking Adam Copeland, this meant that everyones dad Christian cage had to get a shift on. This Match was a marathon and not a sprint, this spoke to how the physicality was laid out in this Match. As the Match went on, and entered it’s final stages, this was when the booking took it’s final course, and cage got the win with a sphere. The Young Bucks then came out, and challenged them to a Match at All In for there Tag Team Championships. I can’t wait to see this, because I’m going to All In, so i’m exstatic for this development.
Painmaker vs Tommaso Ciampa.
A lot has been sad about Chris Jerichos alter ego Painmaker, and just how cringey it is, and it is. Infact the only good thing about it is the fact that his entrance song is Painkiller by one of my favourite bands ever Judas Priest. Over the past few days since this Match happened, critics have laid into this Match, and I get it, because this was the standard hardcore Match to some, but to me this was insane, and i’m saying as a longtime Chris Jericho non enjoyer, due to reasons that i can’t talk about online. It sick weapon spots including. Hockey Pucks. Thumbtacks. Sand. Elbow pads with thumbtacks, and of course mirror glasses, one of them was made into a bed with two steelchairs, and after all of this came the finish, and as a fan of old school shock horror movies Tommaso getting drilled in the head was a scene straight out of Adel Ferreiras 1978 cult classic The Driller Killer, as Jericho planted that drill into his bloodsoaked dome. This was all kinds of nasty, but to me it was a cool visual.
Mick Foley Barked Like A Dog.
Yes you heard me write people Mick Foley barked like a dog. This happened in a backstage segment with The Divine Dominion, and oh my word it was bad. Mick took to X in the aftermath to say that he took full responsibility for this blunder. My Jack Russell Terrier Jane loved this. She’s now an AEW Sicko for life.
Andrade El Idolo vs Mark Davis AEW National Championship.
This Match would’ve been better placed on Dynamite. Don’t get me wrong the Match was good, it’s just it was placed in the wrong order. This should’ve gone out earlier on in the show, and not after a Match that a lot of fans were into. Both men have distinct out looks when it comes to there in ring styles, and this was display here. Mark is the big bruiser from Down Under, whilst Andrade focuse on using his Mexican flare. AEW have a nack for blending styles together, and they work, this was no differant. Andrade El Idolo is our new AEW National Champion. Sometimes I can’t help but think that AEW is where the best wrestle.
Thekla vs Willow Nightingale AEW Womens World Championship.
I didn’t like this. From the start the Match felt clunky, and overbooked, and unfortunately it never recovered. Willow is now our new AEW Womens Champion. She will face Mercedes Mone in London on August 30th. This Match has me excited because I will be at All In to watch the best wrestle.
Kenny Omega vs Kevin Knight AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
The phrase AEW where the best wrestle isn’t just a clever slogan to blast onto tv, because it’s not worth anything if you’re producing the goods. This Match did more than what was required, because this was the battle of the upstart vs the legend. Rookie vs Veteran, and student vs teacher all rolled into one Match, and kit needed to be like this. Kenny Omega slowly moving back into his heel personana is something thati’ve wanted to see for quite sometime, and the fact that we were getting this tease at the halfway point of the match told me everything that I needed to know. The turn was coming, and it was going to be great. Kenny dominated Kevin for the most part of the Match, egging him on, to do better. This took me back to the Keenny of old when he was using his Cleaner gimmick ick in NJPW back in 2017, because is the tactic that he used to use all the time. Kenny got the win and retained his AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Then came the aftermath. The Deathriders came to the ring to attack Kenny, making the Young Bucks to come out and make the save, then the numbers game caught up with them, as the rest The deathriders came out. Matt and Nick Jackson got taken out, and Wheeler yuta got Kenny in position to Pilmanise Kenny’s neck. This was when Will Osperay made the save. He cleared out Jon and his crew, after he had turned his back on them. Will was unwilling to do to Kenny what Jon did to Bryan Danielson. Will clocked Mox, and threw out The Deathriders, leaving him and his Wembley Stadium opponent standnding in the ring facing each other. And after celebrating in the ring, after shaking hands. Kenny hit Will with a one winged angel, and stood above him, saying the words, your not taking this away from me. He posed with The Young Bucks over Wills body, as the PPV faded to black. AEW Is Where The Best Wrestle, and I love it.
Overview Of AEW Redemption 2026.
The big fear that most fans had going into this PPV, was the fact that it screameded B list show, and unfortunately those fears were confirmed to me when two of the Matches didn’t land with me, however the rest of the PPV made up for what I lost, and what I liked has made me excited for whwhat I will be seeing at Wembley Stadium in over a months time. AEW is were the best wrestle. Yep I think so.
