Superstars Seen Showing Up.
Oba Femi. The Judgement Day. The Street Profits, and. Sami Zayn were all seen showing up to work, however Cody wouldn’t be able to start his shift, because after he had some verbal back and forth with Sami he was attacked by Gunther, and slammed into a car door. This would be a decent episode long storythread that would carry the show until the end. I liked this.
Seth Rollins Segment.
This was one of my highlights of the show, because it was awesome. Seth went straight to business by saying that hew owns Roman and always has do. This came as the fans in attendence chanted for Cm Punk, and. Roman Reigns in near unison. Seth took the fans on a trip down memory lane, from his history with Chicago, to turning on his shield brothers, to the return of Cm Punk, and then the promo went to a real place, that felt like Keyfabe coming into focus, as Seth spoke about his financial situation in comparison to Romans. this was when LA Knight showed up, and said what we were all thinking, in no certain terms. Seth is just a big old cry baby. What came next was a masterful look ionto how performers do humour with ease, and it was great. This to me is a clear set for a Match later down the line. As Seth left the ring Big Jim Uso attacked LA Knight. I liked all of this.
Gunther Is escorted From The Building.
Gunther was seen being ejected from the arena. And the GM’s can’t stand each other. I think that’s normal if you ask me.
The Street Profits vs The Vision WWE Tag team Championship.
This Match did nothing for me. This felt overbooked, and under cooked, as it was two focussed on the storyline. This might’ve been for some, but not for me. The Vision retained there belts, thanks to Maxxine turning heel.
Sol Ruca vs Raquel Rodriguez WWE Womens Intercontinental Championship.
For what this Match was, A shenanigans fuelled fun ride complete with physicality. However the interference spots from Iyo Sky. Liv Morgan, and. Roxanne Perez fell into predictability, and it recovered. Sol Retained in what was a confusing mess.
Paul Heyman Segment.
This was one of the best segments that WWE put on the broadcast. Paul Heyman is one of the most gifted talkers in the industry, and was on top form last night. He spoke on behalf of his client Brock Lesnar, and put focus on what happened last week, whilst going into detail about Brocks history in combat sports. This was when his passion came out on live TV because i’m pretty sure he said that Brock would kill Oba Femi inside the Hell In A Cell Structure. Oba came out and fired back with pure ease. This segment was brilliant.
Chad Gable and Rey Fenix vs Ethan Page and Rusev.
This was another Match that did very little for me. The physicality felt a bit subdued, and the overall flow of the Match just felt off. I get why WWE are taking Chad Gable down this route, but after having one of the best Matches in recent years, when he was working in AAA, as part of the mask vs mask rivalry with Elgrande Americano, im’ expecting WWE to do a bit more with Chad, and placing him in the Intercontinental title mix, feels a bit anti climatic in my opinion. Page and Rusev got the win.
LA Knight Gets Battered By Jacob Fatu.
Jackie Redmond tried to get a word with Big Jim Uso as he was trying to leave the arena, but in the distance out came LA Knight who was steaming after Jimmy attacked him earlier in the evening, enter stage left Jacob Fatu who wrecked Mr Knight.
Bayley Segment.
Bayley expressed how she feels about her former friend Lyra Valkyria, and said that she wants to have a face to face with her next week.
Sami Zayn vs ? WWE Undisputed Championship.
Who was sami Zayn’s opponent going to be, well it was none other than Chicagos favourite son Cm Punk. With 25 minutes on the broadcast, you could tell that something was up. then step forward Cm Punk, who made his entrance from the same place were Drew Mcintyre dumped him a couple of years ago. Over the past few weeks, the stories surrounding Cm Punk have been circulating from the media about Punks future, well I think that this Match answered all of those theories. This Match was a treat for fans of eye for detail law. From Sami’s history with Chicago, to Punks Bret Hart inspired gear, this was excellent. Punk got the win, and is our new WWE Undisputed Champion. It’s believed that Cody’s attack is being as the catalyst for Punk vs Rhodes vs at Summerslam, but this does leave WWE with a bad conumdrum, what do you do with Sami Zayn. I get why WWE want to give fans a feel good moment in Saudi Arabia, because given the fact that Wrestlemania is in Saudi next year. This means that WWE are going to take sami down the long route again, and if they do that, then I hope that Sami doesn’t get lost in WWE’s booking vortex, because it would be a shame if that happens.
Overview of WWE Monday Night Raw.
This weeks Monday Night Raw was a cathartic mix bag, that had it’s moments, from Seth and LA Knight having a great promo, the episode long storythread proving to be a good bridge between the gaps, and the main event leaving me feeling a bit conflicted after a second viewing.
This weeks Monday Night Raw is a solid 7/10.
