Top 5 Times Love Outweighed Hate In Pro Wrestling.
Written By Patrick O’malley.
Warning.
Just a heads up guys, this piece will contain references to sexual assault. Racism, and. Antisemitism. Reader discretion is now in full effect.
Intro.
I’ve attempted to write this on several occassions, and i’ve gotten round to finally doing it, and it comes at a time when the world is looking more filled with lies, and non unity, let me explain. Two weeks ago I sat down to write my review of the previous nights WWE Friday Night Smackdown, and as I got into my full mode of work. I turned on the news to have it on as background noise, and the no1 news story was the marches that went on in London. I don’t stand on the side of the left or the right, because I hate violence of war on all levels, I don’t think that anyone should be attacked physically, or verbally for what they believe in, or what they look like. This came as misinformation was spread out to a crowd of sixty thousand who lapped it up, as awful bile spilled out of the speakers mouths. I don’t belong to the left, and I most certainly don’t belong to the right. I stand on the side of humanity. This means no to all forms of conflict. Violence against women. Racism. Harressment, and Hate. This is my stand on politics, so i’m going to leave this intro with this message. If you’re Israeli. Palestinian. Muslim. Christian. Catholic. Sikh, or Hindu, or Pakistani. Gay. Straight. Non Binary, or transgender, you’re all welcome here, because to act human, we have to be human. It’s really not that difficult. Love will always outweigh hate.
5. People Like You.
As the years have gone on HHH has had many Matches on the show of shows, with some builds getting a solid go. This can’t be said about his Match against Booker T at Mania 19. The pair had an in ring segment on the 3rd of March Monday Night Raw from 2003, and Hunter could be heard saying the words. People like you don’t deserve to be champion, because its reversed for people like me. This is considered one of the controversial segments in WWE’s flagship shows 33 year history, after this happened the love for Booker started to shift from the fans, and the hate went was levied against the King Of Kings. In the united states the segment was highly condemned, because Booker is more than an entertainer. This is were love outweighs hate, because fans like myself can see beyond racial lines.
4. Brody King Is An All Elite Human Being.
Earlier this year Brody King was on the rise in AEW as a singles competitor, and a human being. He’s been involved in many great causes that work to help whose in need, when coming to America. This would lead to several chants of f*** ice at live TV AEW broadcasts. This came at time of political contention in the US, as attacks, and deportations rose on migrants in many states. Many fans thought that he was being punished for his stance on politics, but he was removed due to the fact that he was due to take time off. I respect Brody immensley, his stance on Politics is something that is very Punk Rock, and I think that this admirable. Like I said before I’m on the side of humanity. Love will always outweigh hate.
3. MJF Talks About Anti Semitism.
This is one of those subjects that I wish never existed. Maxwell Jacob Freeman has been very outspoken when it comes to Anti Semitism on several occassions. The first time was on the 23rd of Febuary 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite, when he spoke about how he grew up in the eyes of being different in high school, this meant being bullied, and having coins thrown at him. This is awful beyond any measure, and it only got worse. On the 10th of October 2023 Title Tuesday edition of Dynamite, saw a segment between him and Jay White go down the controversial route, when Juice Robinson and his Bang Bang Gang bullied Max with coins with his name all over them, by the orders of Jay White. This segment was widely condemned, on social media from fans and critics alike. However this is were the love comes in. Max has done work with Anti Antisemitism groups, as a way of educating the world of how to look at these issues. Max might be a heel on TV, but he’s a stand up all elite guy in real life. Love will always outweigh hate.
2. Mick Foley Is Good.
I’ve got friends that have met Mick Foley and he’s a nice all round guy. In late 2025 he left his legends deal with WWE due to his political beliefs. I think this is nothing short of commendable. He’s done work with organisations like RAINN who help survivors of sexual violence, and helping kids get the right start in life by working with educational groups. The reason that Mick has ended up on this list is because, whenever you do good in this world, you will always find idiots. Some have called his appointment by AEW to be nonsense, because of the ties that The khan family used to have with The Trump administration, when Shahid Khan donated money to his inaugiral funds. This would end in 2017 when Khan called out the Imigration ban for muslims. I don’t think that any fan should tie Mick in with this, due to the fact that calling things out is in his soul. This is why I think it’s unfair when I looked at some Youtube videos. Think people. Mick deserves fans love. If you stand up for what you believe in, then you should be get the respect that you deserve, respect back.
1. Speaking Out
In late June of 2020 the Pro Wrestling world was rocked by the worrying allegations that come from the Britwres scene here in the UK. This would then echo into the North American scope, as multiple women came forward with awful stories of sexual assault. Cohesive Control, and domestic violence. fans can be a thickle group, which is why I think that it was important that fans showed their displeasure, as the names came out. The one thing that shone through all of this is the fact that, men got put to account, and held to be responsible. The reaction that came from social media was nothing short of positive towards the ladies involved. This was replicated in the media, as the perpatraitors got fired from the indy promotions they were involved with, as legal cases issues became ongoing.
Overview Of This Piece.
I struggled to write this piece for quite sometime, because of the content that surrounds it, but in my heart of hearts I think that if one person can open up, about what they’ve faced, then this piece has been worth working on, because like I said in the intro everyone is welcome here, because as a society we are stronger together, and if we get divided from the actions of others, then that could be detrimental. Show respect, and get you will get respect back. Thank you for reading this piece, and remember love will always outweigh hate.
